Voyage à Warminster, UK

Nos élèves de 1ère S1 de sections européenne anglais partagent avec nous leurs premières impressions...et le soleil de Grande Bretagne !

As Gandhi said "a nation's culture resides in the hearts and in the soul of its people". Thus, we discovered the English school, but not the English school in general: Warminster school and its beautiful architecture, its various students from many countries, its teachers and the way they teach things with motivation, passion, zest, ambition to obtain the best results, then its lovely culture.
If you were there, you could have been lost in the hugeness of the Institute, nevertheless, at the same time you could have found yourself more than ever, far from home, in this English life.

First,  we have lived in a charming boarding house which looks like a good guest house or a great hotel for the whole week. In here, all the French Stanislas-students got on well, hence, we had a lot of fun.
On Sunday we visited the city of Bath and learnt about its famous Georgian architecture built with the help of the divine Golden ratio followed by its golden pentagrams, golden pentagons, to finish by its perfect layout. And we also walked in the whole town to shop in markets or charity shops.

Moreover, from Monday to Friday we attended the same classes as our "buddies", that is  our exchange students, thus discovered many cool options that do not exist in France, for example: Design Technology where they innovate and create objects such as lights or small furniture in a giant workshop like real inventors and masons.
They have the right to choose between different levels of  difficulties in each subject like mathematics or English, but on top of that they have access to a great system of learning in general with two, three, five or six pupils per classroom, not more, we found it easier and nicer to understand.

Ludivine Poncelet

We are four students from 1S1 and we went to Bath during our trip to Warminster.
Our French teacher guided us through the town in the morning and we visited the main places of the worldwide known site. She tought us a lot of fun facts about the architecture history in the several neighbourhoods. In the afternoon, we had the opportunity to walk in this lovely town. We saw the military parade celebrating the 11 November memorial, we also went to Bath Abbey and to some charity shops and some of us even tasted the famous bath sulphuric water supposed to cure any disease. At the end of the day, we all relaxed in a coffee shop and then went back with the minibuses to the campus. That was our first day in England.
